Modern Languages at University of Aberdeen - the Broken SNP Model of University Funding

Learning another language is one of the best ways to invest in our workforce, learn from other cultures and, in the case of Gaelic, preserve our own rich history.

I thank the staff, students and union members who have fought to protect the languages department at Aberdeen, and I urge that talks continue with university management for a constructive resolution.

The SNP model for University funding is broken, harming education and is a threat to our future economy and culture. We are reliant on international students as the SNP have not increased the funding per Scottish student for 14 years – that is unsustainable.
